About Versator Tissue Morcellator & Gynecology Instruments
The
Versator Tissue Morcellation System, manufactured by
Veol Medical Technologies, is a surgical device used in laparoscopic procedures to fragment and extract large tissue masses like uterine fibroids. It is primarily indicated for patients 18 and older undergoing laparoscopic myomectomy or hysterectomy.
System Components
The system uses a "reposable" design, which combines reusable and disposable parts to balance cost-effectiveness with performance:
- Versator Drive Unit (VDU): The reusable power source and control center. It features a digital display with eight adjustable speed levels and directional controls.
- Versator Handpiece: A lightweight (under 200g), disposable component that contains a sharp stainless steel blade for cutting tissue.
- Rotor Cable: A flexible shaft that transmits power from the VDU to the handpiece.
- MorSafe Tissue Morcellation Bag: A specialized bag used to contain the tissue during the morcellation process, which helps prevent the spread of potentially cancerous or parasitic cells within the abdominal cavity.
